IPAA (INDONESIA PUBLIC ART ARCHIEVE)
Artworks in public spaces in a city (in three-dimensional form), commonly known as sculptures or monuments, are works of art that reflect the history that occurred in the area. It is unfortunate that the Indonesian people, especially the city of Bandung, still pay little attention to works of art in public spaces. In fact, works of art in public spaces are works that are closest to society because they are placed in public places. Indonesia Public Art Archive (IPAA) is Indonesia’s digital platform that stores the relevant and up-to-date data of Indonesia’s growing collection of Public Art. IPAA seeks to map, record, and document the data and conceived meaning of as many public artworks as possible in Indonesia as an effort to support easy access of information for all and to be helpful resources for various fields such as education, research, and tourism. IPAA also aims to be a platform for discussions and knowledge exchanges about the growth of Indonesia’s Public Art. The hope is that this data collection and documentation can also be developed in other cities in Indonesia. Big cities such as Jakarta, Yogyakarta, Surabaya, Medan and many other cities have works of art in public spaces as an image of the city itself.
